What's your impression on rx7's? And what do you think about ls swaps in them?
I love rx7s passionately, and I do not like LS swaps in them.
Rotaries are so unique and make huge amounts of power out of nothing, why would you want to swap in a generic heavy LS? For the price of just a stock motor LS swap, your rotary would be so much faster.
And I hate how rotaries are rumored to be “devastatingly unreliable”. It’s because ditsy bitches were buying rx7s and rx8s and not recognizing that they need to be warmed up properly, and either it floods or they fuck their seals. And also, a rebuild for a rotary is inexpensive. It’s about $2k for a rebuild + street port. My piston engine will be a good $6k+.
I dislike LS swaps and especially in rotary cars but calling the LS heavy is just flat out ignorant. It’s an aluminum block and weighs nothing for a V8.
^^plus, ls’s are really compact for v8’s, meaning they weight less than a 2jz
lets not forget better fuel efficiency and slightly less pollutive emissions.
in fact what are rotaries good for exactly?
yeah i think you guys get it pretty good, even with your shitty low octane ratings.
The difference isn’t hat big. US uses (R+M/2) for octane calculations while Australia, New Zealand, Japan and some other countries use RON which tends to read higher. Yes your octane is a little better but because of the different methods of calculations the difference in Octanes is not as severe as it appears.
sucks to be us then
